Life Or Debt ... A Brief Book Preview
by Michael T. Killian, About.com

I can not think of a more appropriate way to swing into this new year than to tell you of a book which just came out called Life Or Debt. Even the title hits the spot since another article at this site shows exactly how being out of debt for the average consumer equates to a 40% Pay Raise. Now if a 40% pay raise cannot create more life in your soul, I don't know what would.

For those familiar with the debt elimination philosophies at this site, the concepts presented in the book, Life Or Debt, will not be foreign. But what is so refreshing is the literary approach taken on the subject as well as it's augmentation. For example, what you might recognize as "Accelerator Margin" from this site, is uniquely referred to as "Debt Destroyer" in the book. Similarly at this site you will find an article from August 2000 called Opportunity Cost. The concepts from that article came to me directly from the author, Stacy Johnson, and are also re-presented in the book.

You may be familiar with Stacy from television since he has written, produced, and distributed Money Talks which is a series of 90-second financial spots aired within the local news on more that 80 affiliated network stations across the nation. He is a CPA with licenses in stocks, commodities, mutual funds, real estate, and life insurance. But your Guide believes one of Stacy's greatest attributes is the philosophy captured in his own words:

"In the course of writing and producing hundreds of consumer news stories, I have gradually transformed from a consumer reporter into what I call a consumer warrior.... Life Or Debt offers a way of getting out of the red and into the green. It's a battle that needs to be fought and needs to be won."

Life Or Debt is a step-by-step programs for eliminating debts for good. It also offers 205 great ways to save money in many facets of your life. In Chapters eight and nine it presents ideas for repairing your credit report and ideas to follow when considering the need for debt counseling. Additionally, it presents some basics so that the layman can really understand investments.

I recommend this book to all my readers. It offers concepts that I believe in strongly and is presented in an intelligible fashion. In his book Life Or Debt, author Stacy Johnson really makes Money Talk!
